


The Acting Vice Chancellor of The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), Prof. Abdi T. Abdalla, participated in the 3rd China-Africa University Presidents Forum held in Jinhua, China, from 17th–19th April 2026 as part of the 70th Anniversary celebrations of Zhejiang Normal University.
During the forum, Prof. Abdalla delivered a keynote speech titled “Advancing China-Africa Academic Collaboration through Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development,” where he highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships, digital innovation, and sustainable development in strengthening higher education cooperation between China and Africa.
On the sidelines of the forum, Prof. Abdalla held productive discussions with heads of schools and research institutes aimed at expanding collaboration between SUZA and Zhejiang Normal University into new areas, including science, engineering, research, and academic exchange programmes.
SUZA and Zhejiang Normal University share a long-standing partnership through the Confucius Classroom at SUZA, which has continued to grow as an important centre for promoting Chinese language and culture.
The programme has significantly benefited the Zanzibar and wider regional community, particularly by enhancing language and cultural competencies that support the tourism sector and international engagement.
The participation reflects SUZA’s continued commitment to strengthening global partnerships, enhancing academic excellence, and expanding opportunities for students and staff through international collaboration.
