School of Education (SoE)

The history of the School of Education (SoE) is intricately intertwined with that of SUZA. Way back in 2001, the School of Education, a foundation school of the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA).

School of Education (SoE)

The School of Education (SoE) is the founding school of the State University of Zanzibar. It became a separate school in October 2012 from the former School of Education, Arts and Sciences (SEAS) as a result of the University restructuring. The 2012 restructuring compels the School of Education to expand its services to provide diverse courses and Programmes which will cater for national, regional and international education needs.

The School currently has two departments, namely the Department of Educational Foundation, Instruction and Leadership (DEFIL) and the Department of Early Childhood, Primary, Inclusive and Special Needs Education (DECPISNE).

Dr. Said K. Juma

Dean of SOE

Dr. Said Khamis Juma is the Dean of the School of Education (SoE) at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA). He holds a PhD in Inclusive Education from the University of Jyväskylä. Dr. Juma also earned a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam and Diploma in Language Studies with Education from the Institute of Kiswahili and Foreign Languages.
