The school of of Kiswahili and Foreign Languages which was established in 1979. The School is located at Nkrumah Campus.
The School of Kiswahili and Foreign Languages (SKFL) is responsible for the teaching of languages at diploma and degree levels. SKFL also provides opportunities for learning some of the major foreign languages which include English, French, Spanish, Arabic, German, Portuguese and Chinese. In addition, the school also undertakes research in Kiswahili and provides facilities for both local and foreign students wishing to pursue short courses in Kiswahili.
To provide first-class teaching, research and services in Kiswahili and Foreign languages to national and international needs.

Dr. Abuubakar Makame Fakih he is a siniour lecture and Dean of School of Kiswahili and Foreign Languages (SKFL) at the State University of Zanzibar – (SUZA). Dr. Abuubakar Makame Fakih holds a PhD in Grammar & Morphology, (Omdurman Islamic University, 2012). Also he hold a Master of M.A in Teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic Speakers, (Khartoum International Institute for Arabic Language, 2009), and finally Degree of B.A in Arabic Language with Education, (International University of Africa, 2005).
