The School of Computing, Communication, and Media Studies (SCCM) was established in 2016 following the upgrading of the department of Computer Science and IT formerly part of the School of Natural and Social Sciences (SNSS).

The School of Computing, Communication, and Media Studies (SCCM) was established in 2016 following the upgrading of the department of Computer Science and IT formerly part of the School of Natural and Social Sciences (SNSS). This transformation occurred as part of the University’s restructuring in 2012, and the official launch of SCCM took place in 2017.

The school is entrusted with providing programs at the pre-undergraduate, undergraduate, and post-graduate levels, as well as engaging in research, innovation, and consultancy services within the fields of computing, communication, and informatics.

To build a community of scholars in order to provide Excellent and Innovative Training programmes that will impart students with the relevant knowledge and skills and that will build their attitudes towards creativity in order to lead life and pursue careers of their choices.

Our Vision

To be a premier center of training and innovation in the fields of computing and applied informatics that will attract students from across Eastern Africa.

Dr. Ali Adnan Idarous

Dean of SCCM

Dr. Ali Adnan Idarous is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at the State University of Zanzibar. Dr. Ali Adnan Idarous holds a Doctor of Computer Science (PhD) at Universiti Putra Malaysia and Master Degree in Computer Science from Vladimir State University. His Bachelor’s degree is in Computer Engineering at Vladimir State University.
