The State University Of Zanzibar

BUILDING STRONGER UNIVERSITIES PROJECT

The Building Stronger Universities (BSU) programme was established in 2011 as a collaboration between the universities of Denmark  and Southern higher education institutions in priority countries of DANIDA, including Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, and Somalia. The overarching objective of the partnership between the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) and the Danish partners, led by the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), is to enhance the capacity of SUZA to effectively conduct research directly relevant to the needs of Zanzibari society, thereby contributing to the overall achievement of Zanzibar’s development plans. The research and education investments in the BSU SUZA project have focused on environmental public health and marine/coastal ecosystems.
