Zanzibar School of Dentistry was established on August 2019/2020 academic year with the goal to begin offering a five years programme degree in Doctor of Dentistry.

Zanzibar School of Dentistry was established in the August 2019/2020 academic year to begin offering a five-year program degree in Doctor of Dentistry.
The main objective is to provide graduates with an opportunity for acquisition of knowledge, competencies, and skills to bring about the best practices in the discipline of Dentistry, and bestow guidance in accomplishing exemplary patient care. The need for the establishment of the program is of high demand for dental professionals in the country
The newly established school located at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital campus, a referral hospital which is located in the Vuga area. Currently, the school is offering a Doctor of Dental Surgery Programme for five years.
During the First five semesters, students take per-clinical courses at the Mbweni campus which is located in the West District within the Urban West Region about 7 kilometers South West Zanzibar Town. The remaining five-semester students are studying at the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital campus. Admission of the first class of students was done in 20192020 with a total number of 7 students, then 9 students in 2020/2021, 15 students in 2021/2022, and 14 students in 2022/ 2023.

Dr. Iddi Suleiman Iddi
Dr. Iddi Suleiman Iddi he is a dean of School of Dentist (SoD) at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA). Dr. Iddi Suleiman Iddi holds a Master of Orthodontist and Dentofacial Orthopaedics (Central South University China) and also Degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (ORAN Medical University)
