CALL FOR DRAFT MANUSCRIPTS
The CENSU Research and Education Program at the State University of Zanzibar
(SUZA) invites submissions of draft manuscripts for participation in a
structured manuscript development and scientific writing workshop series.
This initiative is designed to support researchers and professionals in
strengthening their scholarly work and producing high-quality, publishable
scientific outputs aligned with the program’s thematic priorities.
- Background
The CENSU Program focuses on advancing interdisciplinary research and
capacity building in the areas of climate change, energy, sustainability, and
governance. As part of its commitment to enhancing research excellence and
knowledge dissemination, the program is organizing workshops aimed at
transforming draft manuscripts into publishable articles. - Objectives of the Call: The specific objectives are to:
Identify promising draft manuscripts for development into publishable
papers
Strengthen scientific writing, analysis, and publication skills
Promote research aligned with CENSU thematic areas
Facilitate mentorship, peer learning, and collaboration among
researchers - Thematic Areas: Submitted manuscripts must align with one or more of the
following themes:
Climate change adaptation and mitigation
Energy systems, including oil and gas and renewable energy transitions
Sustainability and natural resource management
Governance, policy, and institutional frameworks
Socio-economic and livelihood impacts of energy and environmental
change
- Eligibility: This call is open to:
Academic staff and researchers from SUZA
Researchers from other higher education institutions
Researchers from recognized research institutions
Staff from government institutions, particularly those working in oil and
gas and related sectors in Zanzibar - Support to Selected Applicants: Selected applicants will benefit from:
Participation in intensive manuscript development workshops
Technical guidance and mentorship from experienced facilitators
Structured peer-review and feedback sessions
Support to finalize manuscripts and submit them for publication
during the workshop period - Submission Requirements: Applicants are required to submit:
A draft manuscript (complete or in-progress)
An abstract (250–300 words)
Author(s) names and institutional affiliations - Selection Criteria: Submissions will be assessed based on:
Relevance to CENSU thematic priorities
Scientific merit and originality
Potential for publication in peer-reviewed outlets
Commitment of the author(s) to actively participate in the workshop

Submission Deadline: 28th April 2026
Notification of Acceptance: 2nd May 2026
