SUZA GETS ITS 4THDEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR ACADEMICS

The Management of the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) wishes to inform the general public and the entire SUZA stakeholders that the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council who is also the Chancellor of the State University of Zanzibar, His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has appointed Prof. Abdi Talib Abdalla as the new Deputy Vice -Chancellor, Academics, Research and Consultancy with effect from 3rd October, 2025. The appointment has been made in accordance to Section 10(1) of the State University of Zanzibar Act No. 8 of 1999.

Prof. Abdalla holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering majoring in Communications and Signal Processing from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) of Saudi Arabia (2016), along with Master of Science (MSc) in Electronics Engineering and Information Technologies (2010) and Bachelor of Science (BSc)in Electronics Science and Communications (2006) from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Prior to his appointment Prof. Abdi T. Abdalla was an Associate Professor at the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of ICT Systems, published by UDSM. He also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Governing Board of Al-Maktoum College of Engineering and Technology. His research and professional interests span a range of emerging fields, including through-the-wall radar imaging, indoor target localization, compressive sensing in radar signal processing, smart grid systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and the application of ICT and emerging technologies in the Blue Economy, community development, and digital transformation.

The State University of Zanzibar extends its congratulations and wishes him every success as he takes on these new responsibilities.
