The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) and the University of Oradea, Romania, have strengthened their commitment to international academic cooperation following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing institutional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and higher education development.
The signing ceremony brought together a delegation from SUZA led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Said Ali Hamad Vuai, accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdi Talib Abdalla; the Dean of the School of Computing, Communication and Media Studies (SCCMs), Prof. Abuubakar Diwani Bakari; and Dr. Haji Ali Omar, Personal Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor.
The engagement between SUZA and the University of Oradea focused on two key objectives: benchmarking and collaboration.
Under the benchmarking agenda, the SUZA delegation sought to learn from the University of Oradea’s institutional practices, systems, policies, and approaches to higher education. The knowledge and experiences gained are expected to contribute to SUZA’s continuous institutional improvement and development.
The second objective focused on identifying areas of mutual interest and establishing opportunities for long-term academic and institutional collaboration between the two universities.
The newly signed MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between SUZA and the University of Oradea, with emphasis on academic excellence, knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, and internationalization.

Through the partnership, SUZA and the University of Oradea will explore opportunities to strengthen academic cooperation, facilitate the exchange of best practices, enhance institutional capacity, and create greater opportunities for students and staff.
The collaboration is part of SUZA’s broader commitment to expanding strategic international partnerships and learning from global best practices to strengthen the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of higher education.
