CALL FOR PROJECT RESEARCHERS
CENSU Project – State University of Zanzibar (SUZA)
The Climate Change, Energy, Sustainability: Transformations and Governance (CENSU) Project is a collaborative initiative between universities in Tanzania, Mozambique, and Norway. The project examines the sustainability and governance implications of gas and other energy resource extraction. It focuses on how energy extraction influences climate change mitigation and affects vulnerable communities. The project aims to strengthen research and education capacity on energy governance and sustainability.
The CENSU Project at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) invites applications from two (2) competent and motivated researchers to join the project team. The selected researchers will actively support the implementation of CENSU project research activities, particularly collaborative research and scientific publication, in close collaboration with the project coordinator and partner institutions.
Key Responsibilities
The selected researchers will:
- Participate in the implementation of CENSU project research activities in collaboration with project members.
- Engage in data collection, management, and analysis related to project research activities.
- Actively contribute to scientific writing and preparation of research manuscripts using existing CENSU project datasets and newly collected data.
- Lead or co-author at least one scientific manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal during the engagement period.
- Support documentation and reporting of project activities and research outputs.
- Perform other project-related research tasks as assigned by the project coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Hold at least a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change Studies, Energy Studies, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Economics, Governance, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrate experience or strong interest in research, data analysis, and scientific writing.
- Have demonstrated ability or strong motivation to develop academic manuscripts and technical reports.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Possess good proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Basic computer skills including the use and research/data analysis tools.
Contract Duration
The engagement will be for one (1) year, from April 2026 to March 2027.
