Zanzibar, 14 August 2026 — PhD students under the Building Stronger Universities (BSU4) Programme today presented updates on the progress of their research work to their respective Work Package (WP) leaders at The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) Main Campus.
The progress presentation session was held in the BSU4 Room, bringing together PhD students and academic and project leaders to review ongoing research activities, discuss achievements, identify challenges, and receive guidance for the next stages of their work.
The session was attended by Dr. Idrissa Yussuf, WP1 Leader, and Dr. Fatma Hamid, WP2 Leader, together with other BSU4 Work Package leaders who participated virtually from the northern region.
During the session, the PhD students shared their research progress, highlighting key activities completed, preliminary findings, challenges encountered, and plans for moving their research forward. The presentations also provided an opportunity for the Work Package leaders to give constructive feedback and recommendations aimed at strengthening the quality and relevance of the students’ research.
The engagement forms part of the BSU4 programme’s commitment to strengthening research capacity, supporting postgraduate researchers, and promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange among participating institutions.
The involvement of both on-site and online Work Package leaders further demonstrated the programme’s commitment to continuous mentorship and effective coordination across different locations.
The progress review is expected to help PhD students refine their research work, address emerging challenges, and remain on track toward successful completion of their studies and contribution to the broader research objectives of the BSU4 programme.
