The Department of Natural Sciences is a vibrant academic center dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement at the State University of Zanzibar. The department offers a comprehensive range of programs designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the fundamental sciences and prepare them for diverse career paths and advanced studies. At the undergraduate level, the department offers four streams for students to undertake:

• Physics/Mathematics

• Physics/Chemistry

• Chemistry/Biology

• Chemistry/Mathematics

  These streams in our department provide students with a solid theoretical grounding and practical skills, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and scientific literacy.

  The department also offers three specialized postgraduate programs:

• Master of Science in Chemistry

• Master of Science in Environmental Studies

• Master’s Program in Climate Change and Resource Management

  These programs provide advanced knowledge and research opportunities, preparing students for leadership roles in academia, industry, and government.
