Dr. Masoud is a Senior Lecturer in Kiswahili Studies at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), where he specialises in Kiswahili literature. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Kiswahili from SUZA, a Master of Arts in Kiswahili from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), and a Bachelor of Arts with Education from the State University of Zanzibar. Dr. Masoud has made significant and widely recognised contributions to the field of Kiswahili studies, having published several academic articles in both local and international peer-reviewed journals, and also serving as an editor of various Kiswahili journals. In terms of leadership and professional service, Dr. Masoud served as Head of the Department of Kiswahili at SUZA from 2019 to 2022, and as a Member of the Zanzibar Kiswahili Council (BAKIZA) from 2019 to 2024, contributing actively to language policy and the promotion of Kiswahili at the institutional and national levels.
