He is a media and communication expert, academic, and journalist with more than 17 years’ experience spanning media production, corporate communication, journalism, and higher education. He currently serves as Lecturer and Head of the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA). Dr Abdalla holds a PhD in Journalism from Marmara University, Istanbul; a Master’s in International Communication from the Communication University of China; a Master’s in Educational Policy and Leadership from East China Normal University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the Muslim University of Morogoro, Tanzania. He has published widely on media, communication, and education policy. In addition to his academic work, he is a freelance journalist for various local media outlets and serves as an international correspondent for Hunan Daily in China. Beyond his academic and journalistic roles, Dr Abdalla is actively involved in community development, professional consulting, and media and communication training across East Africa and beyond.
