The Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture under the School of Agriculture (SoA), State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) is committed to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, consultancy, and community engagement in animal production, fisheries, and aquaculture. The Department prepares competent graduates with practical and scientific knowledge to support sustainable livestock and fisheries development, food and nutrition security, climate resilience, and the Blue Economy in Zanzibar and beyond.
The Department promotes competency-based education through classroom instruction, laboratory practicals, field training, research, and industry partnerships. Our academic and research activities focus on improving livestock productivity, sustainable aquaculture, feed and nutrition, animal health and welfare, value addition, entrepreneurship, and climate-smart production systems.
