Dr. Salum Seif Salum is a former Dean of the School of Health Medical Sciences (SHMS) of the State University of Zanzibar(SUZA) , among the founders of SUZA’S School of Dentistry(SoD). He holds a double presidential appointment as aChairperson for the Medical Laboratory Practitioners Council(ZMLP) and Zanzibar Food and Drug Agency (ZFDA), AdvisoryBoard. Currently is the head of the Department of Microbiology andImmunology with strong academic and collaborative profile forbeing the focal person of SUZA collaboration with the University ofBremen in Germany and University of Camerino (UNICAM) workingon potential intervention on association between HelminthInfections, Malnutrition, and Gut Microbiota in Children and Mothersfrom Pemba, Tanzania. He has been engaging in a number ofcommunity based projects formerly in nutrition and later Covid-19 incollaboration between SUZA and Bremen University. Currently isworking as Work package leader in Molecular diagnostic and genesequencing through the Project of Strengthening Capacity toManage and Cope with Pandemic in Ethiopia and Tanzania(SCCOPET) with Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College(KCMUco) and University of Copenhagen.
