{"id":19852,"date":"2026-07-28T03:59:31","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T03:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/suza.ac.tz\/?p=19852"},"modified":"2026-07-28T04:00:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T04:00:36","slug":"bsu4-suza-institutional-benchmarking-on-grant-management-systems-at-knust-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/suza.ac.tz\/?p=19852","title":{"rendered":"BSU4 \u2013 SUZA Institutional Benchmarking on Grant Management Systems at KNUST, Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kumasi, Ghana | 27 July 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A delegation from the&nbsp;<strong>State University of Zanzibar (SUZA)<\/strong>&nbsp;conducted a successful benchmarking visit to the&nbsp;<strong>Office of Grants and Research (OGR)<\/strong>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana<\/strong>, to learn from the University&#8217;s best practices in research grant management and institutional research support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit forms part of SUZA&#8217;s ongoing efforts to establish a&nbsp;<strong>Grant Management Office (GMO)<\/strong>&nbsp;under the&nbsp;<strong>Building Stronger Universities Phase IV (BSU IV)<\/strong>&nbsp;project. Work Package IV is responsible for supporting institutional capacity strengthening in research and grant management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The delegation was warmly received by the&nbsp;<strong>Director of the Office of Grants and Research, Prof. Jerry John Kponyo<\/strong>, together with members of the OGR team. The discussions focused on KNUST&#8217;s grant management framework, research administration systems, funding strategies, proposal development, project implementation, compliance, and post-award support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The benchmarking exercise provided SUZA with valuable insights and practical experiences that will inform the development of an efficient and sustainable Grant Management Office.
